You play as Kaine, a boy with cybernetic powers, on a mission to rescue his mum from danger.
I was the main programmer, and co-designer of the game. As such, my duties included optimisation, mechanics, level design, systems design and polish.
Takeaways
As my first game, I learned alot about the importance of platformer controls, how subtle effects that goes unseen are actually felt heavily by players. Aside from that, level design and pacing is also crucial in a platformer, as well as adding polish to the game (sound, effects, animations) to create a cohesive and enjoyable experience.
